Dr. Megha Pansara is a dedicated and compassionate board-certified ophthalmologist and surgeon specializing in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. Born and raised in Tampa, she is a proud graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, where she earned her degree in Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics, graduating Cum Laude. Dr. Pansara’s academic achievements were accompanied by her athletic prowess, as she also received a cross-country scholarship.
Her journey into the world of medicine began at the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medical Sciences, where she earned her medical doctorate. While in medical school, Dr. Pansara discovered her passion for ophthalmology and its unique blend of clinical patient care and micro surgeries.
She completed her residency in general ophthalmology at the Ochsner Foundation Hospital and Louisiana State University in New Orleans. Dr. Pansara’s affinity for working with children and the complexities of diagnosing and treating strabismus led her to pursue a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at the University of California San Diego, Ratner Children’s Eye Center at the Shiley Eye Institute.
Dr. Pansara initially joined a small private practice before transitioning to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. Ultimately, she and her family returned to Tampa to be closer to loved ones and serve the Tampa Bay community with her exceptional skills and expertise.
When she’s not caring for her patients, Dr. Pansara cherishes spending time with her family, exploring new places through travel, and experimenting with diverse culinary creations in the kitchen.
Dr. Julia Byrd is a board-certified ophthalmologist with advanced fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of eye conditions, including amblyopia, strabismus, pediatric cataracts, tear duct disorders, retinopathy of prematurity, pediatric uveitis, congenital eye conditions, and ocular trauma.
Originally from New Mexico, Dr. Byrd graduated Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She went on to attend the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, where she was introduced to ophthalmology by several influential mentors. She quickly became fascinated by the complexity of the visual system and the precision of ocular surgery.
Dr. Byrd completed her residency in general ophthalmology at the John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah, where she found her calling in pediatric ophthalmology. She was drawn to the field by her love of caring for children, the opportunity to form lasting relationships with families, and the diversity and complexity of the eye conditions treated in pediatric ophthalmology. She pursued advanced clinical and surgical training through a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
After fellowship, Dr. Byrd practiced at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she further honed her clinical and surgical skills. She later moved west to work in Montana before settling in Florida—her husband’s home state— to be closer to family and serve the growing needs of the Tampa Bay community.
When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Byrd enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She also loves any outdoor adventure including sailing, paddle boarding, fishing, scuba diving, skiing, camping and hiking.
